After an injury prevented Al Iaquinta from fighting last April, the Wantagh-based lightweight will take advantage of another fighter's injury to continue his career in the UFC's octagon.
Iaquinta will replace Quinn Mulhern at UFC 164 in Milwaukee, Wisc., against Ryan Couture. Mulhern injured his hand and had to pull out of the Aug. 31 card.
A finalist on "The Ultimate Fighter Live" (Season 15), Iaquinta was supposed to debut at UFC 159 in Newark last April, but Joe Proctor suffered an injury. That in turn led Iaquinta (5-2-1) to step back and get his body healthy as well.
In the main event at UFC 164, Benson Henderson will defend his lightweight title against Anthony Pettis.
