Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson got into a fight with Tennessee Titans defensive back Cortland Finnegan on Sunday.
In keeping with longstanding Fightin' Words tradition started by Joey Jitsu, when fights happen in weird places, we find the video and analyze it from an MMA point of view.
You may not consider a football field a weird place for a fight to break out, but when was the last time you actually saw players throw real punches rather than just pushing and shoving?
Early in the fight, Johnson got the takedown on Finnegan. He immediately went into some ground-and-pound and threw two seemingly hard punches. His failure, though, came in not securing Finnegan's body through a mount or side control. That's why this fight ended quickly. That, and the early stoppage from the referee.
Final analysis: While plenty of former football players have transitioned to MMA, Johnson is best served in the NFL.
