Urijah Faber is all over the promotion for UFC Personal Trainer, a new video game released last month for XBox Kinect.
It's exactly as the title suggests: a video game that allows you to train like a mixed martial artist without having to beat yourself up with heavy bags and other people punching you.
“It’s basically simulating the way we train," said Faber, a former WEC featherweight champion with a history of breaking his hands during fights. "I like a lot of aspects of the game. The best one for me is the three-bag work. It simulates the bag work, but you get a response from it. You can get creative with combinations without battering up your hands.”
Any chance one day we'll start to hear fighters talk about how they used the game while rehabbing from an injured hand? Or how they took it with when traveling and set it up in a hotel room somewhere?
Maybe it's a stretch, maybe it isn't. Something to think about next time you get home from the gym and have to stick your hand in a bucket of ice to numb the pain.
