Chael Sonnen keeps talking trash about Anderson Silva

Trust us when we say Chael Sonnen looks

Trust us when we say Chael Sonnen looks better here than he did during his fight against Nate Marquardt at UFC 109. You wouldn't believe it from this photo, but Sonnen completely dominated Marquardt and won a unanimous decision. (Feb. 6, 2010) Credit: UFC Photo

Over the course of his past three fights since May 2009, Chael Sonnen has gone from a guy with a unique name to a big name in the UFC's middleweight division.

Rising parallel to Sonnen's star has been Sonnen's mouth. He's had nothing but not-so-nice words for champion Anderson Silva ever since Silva's performance at UFC 112 against Demian Maia.

Sonnen (26-10-1) kept up the anti-Silva campaign in his UFC 117 pre-fight video embedded below. Usually, these videos are just a 90-second hype machine that gets old after about you've watched three or four of them. This one, however, was a bit different. Sonnen went to work on Silva (26-4), offering up these gems below:

"He fought a one-legged Canadian."

"He fought a math teacher from Ohio."

"His 15 minutes of fame are done."

"Anderson Silva has hurt a lot of people. A couple of those guys were my friends, and I don't have many friends. That bothers me a lot."

"Anderson Silva's really the nuisance. He's really the problem."

Whether or not you agree with Sonnen, at least he's somewhat entertaining in his approach. Will he be able to beat the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world on Aug. 7 at UFC 117 in Oakland? We'll find out then. In the meantime, enjoy Sonnen's video and await the next round of trash.
