Bud Light extended his sponsorship agreement with the UFC, which means that there's no hard feelings from the Brock Lesnar "Coors Light" incident at UFC 100 in 2009.
It also means something more than additional commercials and signage that you don't really pay attention to during the fights anyway. Bud Light will actually work with UFC "to present one special promotional event per year."
What that entails exactly is unclear, but it's hard to imagine Augustus Busch IV taking over for matchmaker Joe Silva anytime soon. But, it does mean that on Sept. 17, 2011, UFC will do a fight card in New Orleans called "Battle on the Bayou." It will air free on Spike.
And, of course, that means contests for fans to win a trip to New Orleans for the fights. Here are the details on that:
- Win a three-day, two-night UFC fan experience in the Big Easy – complete with weigh-ins downtown, an exclusive concert and meet-and-greets with UFC personalities.
- Beginning May 2, fans 21 and older can enter at facebook.com/BudLight to a win a trip for two to "Battle on the Bayou”
- Fans can also enter through UFC-branded Snap Tags on Bud Light point-of-sale materials.
