After being outboxed and losing a unanimous decision to Nick Diaz last Saturday at UFC 137 in Las Vegas, BJ Penn said he's done with MMA. He told Joe Rogan during his in-cage interview that he'd had enough.
But maybe that was just the emotion of the moment talking for Penn, one of two fighters in UFC history to win titles in more than one weight class. (Randy Couture is the other.)
On Monday, it seems Penn backed off the retirement statement. At least partially. Here's what he posted on his website BJPenn.com earlier today:
“I want to thank all the fans for their love and support. I have decided to take some time off to enjoy life, train and teach. I will keep you guys posted with what’s next.”
Interpret things as you wish, but at the moment, that doesn't sound like much of a retirement speech, does it?
