Marcos Galvao, twice on the wrong end of close decisions in previous Bellator tournaments, will return for Season 6 in the bantamweight tournament, Newsday has learned.
The Brazilian-born Galvao (10-5-1), who trains at Nova Uniao in New York City, is the first fighter named for the bantamweight tournament. Season 6 of Bellator begins on Friday, March 2, 2012.
Season 6 of Bellator will feature five tournaments instead of the usual four. In addition to the bantamweight tournament, you'll seefeatherweights, lightweights, welterweights and middleweights compete for title shots.
Bellator switched from Saturday to Friday nights for its live fights to avoid competition for the coveted 18-34 male demographic from college football, boxing and UFC events. The fights will continue to air on MTV 2 and in HD on Epix in 2012 before moving to Spike in 2013.
