So much for that whole Ion Television thing, at least for now.

Spike and UFC announced Monday an agreement to televise preliminary bouts on the basic cable channel in 2011.

The broadcasting of prelims on Spike will begin with UFC 126 on Feb. 5, 2011, in Las Vegas. Paul Kelly will fight Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone in a lightweight bout, and undefeated featherweight Chad Mendes fights Michihiro Omigawa. The main event that night will be Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort for the middleweight title.

Since September 2009, Spike has broadcast prelims from 13 UFC pay-per-view events, with an average rating of 1.5 million. UFC 125 prelims on Jan. 1, 2011, were broadcast by Ion Television. They aired three matches instead of the usual two.
