A pair of Jersey boys opened the Strikeforce card at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J. The fight started slowly and ended slowly, but the middle was rather exciting.
Exciting enough for Jason McLean to pull off the split decision victory over Kevin Roddy.
McLean found his range midway through the second round, opening up with a huge flurry of punches after recovering from an accidental kick to the nether region. McLean dropped Roddy with a big left hook and followed in with some ground shots. But Roddy managed to get away and get back to his feet.
Early in the third round, McLean took down Roddy. Not good. Roddy reversed position and kept body control of McLean near the cage for the better part of three minutes. McLean gained top control in the final 20 seconds but couldn't mount enough offense to finish or steal the round.
