NEWARK - There was an air of quiet floating through the Prudential Center. Was it intermission? Nope, it was the Ricardo Almeida-Mike Pyle welterweight bout at UFC 128.
To call it lackluster would be insulting to lackluster. But such is life when those in the arena and those watching on Facebook all know the deal. Pyle won a unanimous decision, with the judges scoring it 29-28, 30-27, 30-27.
For those who want a recap of the action, here it is: Pyle (21-7-1) wanted little to do with Almeida on the ground. Smart, seeing how Almeida (13-5) is a Renzo Gracie black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Almeida has some success with his right hand early, but went away from it. Pyle landed a few punches here and there. And that's about it.
