Either this was a boring fight, or an impressive display of how to defend against submission choke holds when there's a fighter with his arms wrapped around your neck.

It all depends on your point of view -- and that of the judges as well.

Brian Ebersole was awarded the split decision victory over Claude Patrick in a welterweight bout at UFC 140 inside the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

"I'm very thankful to get a decision in his hometown," said Ebersole (49-14-1), winner of 10 straight fights.

The loss stopped a 13-fight win streak for Patrick.
