Julianna Pena will get at least six more hours to rehydrate and replenish her body Friday as UFC 200 will feature early weigh-ins.

She doesn’t want them.

“I’m really upset about that weight cut because they told me I’m the literal only person that’s complained about the new rules,” Pena said Wednesday night on Sirius XM Rush.

Pena (8-2, 3-0 UFC) faces Cat Zingano (9-1, 2-1) on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

“I’m pretty vain in that sense,” said Pena, a past “Ultimate Fighter” season winner. “You know, you look forward to getting all shredded at 135 [pounds] and looking your opponent in the face and stuff. And now that they’re having a morning weigh-in, and then a second weigh-in later in the day, it’s like I’m gonna be all bloated and fat, I’m not gonna have a six-pack anymore.”

Early weigh-ins allow fighters to weigh in between 8 and 10 a.m. at the fighter hotel the day before the event. That renders the public weigh-in event little more than a photo op for the fighters and exposure for the promoters. In the past, fighters would weigh in on stage at the arena, beginning around 4 p.m. local time.

Now, at the weigh-in show which streams online and often is televised live, the fighters’ weights from the morning weigh-ins are announced when they step on the scale at the afternoon show.

UFC 199 in Los Angeles was the first event Zuffa used the new protocol adopted by California’s state athletic commission. Early weigh-ins also were used for UFC Fight Night 89 last month in Ottawa. The Nevada Athletic Commission approved the new procedure for all three UFC events this week as well.
