UFC Fight Night 20: Catone opens the night strong

FAIRFAX, Va. - We'll open the live blog from UFC Fight Night 20 with a confession: We missed the first round of the opening bout between middleweights Nick Catone and Jesse Forbes. "The Pete" and I were starving and needed to eat something first.

But we caught the round on the TV in the press center sans sound. Here's what we saw: Catone (8-2) got bloodied up early, but the Englewood, N.J. native closed the round with a flurry of punches that had us thinking he was preparing for an audition for Season 2 of "Jersey Shore."

Once we got Octagon-side for the second and third round, we saw more punching and kicking in what proved to be a thoroughly entertaininng start to the night. A pair of takedowns in the third round likely swayed the fight in favor of Catone, who won a split decision, 28-29, 29-28, 29-28.

Forbes is 5-3.
