MASHANTUCKET, Conn. - Below are fight recaps from the prelim bouts at UFC Fight Night 50 at the Foxwoods Casino on Friday night.

John Moraga vs. Justin Scoggins

As Scoggins went in for a takedown in this flyweight bout, Moraga caught hold of Scoggins next and earned the submission victory 41 seconds into the second round.  “He didn’t open up when he took me down,” Moraga said. “They don’t want to give me that chance to stand back up, so I’m just working on my submissions.”

Al Iaquinta vs. Rodrigo Damm

Wantagh's Al Iaquinta scored a third-round knockout of Rodrigo Damm at UFC Fight Night 50 last night at Foxwoods. Iaquinta (9-3-1, 4-2 UFC) landed a right hook that dropped Damm earlier in the round, then followed up with an aggressive flurry for his first stoppage in the UFC. See http://newsday.com/aliaquinta for more on this fight.

Chris Camozzi vs. Rafael Natal

Entering this fight, Camozzi and Natal combined for a five-fight losing streak.  Only Camozzi would continue to not win. In a three-round middleweight bout that was at times sloppy and sluggish, Natal did enough to earn a close split decision.  The judges scored it 29-28, 28-29, 29-28, for Natal (18-6-1).   It’s the fourth straight loss for Camozzi.

Tateki Matsuda vs. Chris Beal

Chris Beal, an undefeated bantamweight born in Brooklyn, dominated Tateki Matsuda who accepted the bout as a replacement fighter last week. Beal (10-0) mixed in good striking and solid grappling to win by unanimous decision. The judges scored it 29-28, 29-28, 30-27.

Chas Skelly vs. Sean Soriano

For a guy who last fought in the octagon 13 days earlier, Chas Skelly looked and moved just fine. And he outgrappled Sean Soriano to win the featherweight bout by unanimous decision. All three judges scored it 30-27 for Skelly (13-1). “The two weight cuts really took it out of me,” a visibly exhausted Skelly said.  “They took it out of me.”
