Dan Henderson fights Fedor Emelianenko in the Strikeforce main event on Saturday night at 10 p.m. on Showtime.

The fight means nothing in terms of the light heavyweight division, of which Henderson is the champion. The fight means nothing in terms of the heavyweight division, of which Emelianenko is a member and Henderson is just a visitor with a temporary pass. The fight means nothing in terms of the future career paths of either fighter, since both are already established stars who can dictate their next fights as needed.

But, the fight does mean something, and that something is this: it's a fight, a combative engagement between two men who desire to see who is better on that night in particular. In a way, it's refreshing to see a matchup that sells itself on the notion that two legends of MMA just want to fight each other.
