Ed Morris Sr., the executive director of the SSHOF, will introduce the inductees on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the West Lake Inn in Patchogue.
"We have an outstanding class of individuals this year and we're excited about them," Morris said. "It is an honor to recognize these individuals and their accomplishments over the years."
The headliners include brothers John and Mike Tice, who were outstanding football players at Central Islip and the University of Maryland and went on to play and coach in the NFL. They'll be joined by former NBA star Jeff Ruland, who was a standout for Sachem High School from 1975-77. Sachem alum Nicole Kaczmarski, a five-year varsity starter at Sachem, broke every school record before graduating in 1999 and went on to play for UCLA before an injury cut short her career.
Former Sachem girls basketball coach Risa Zander also will be inducted. They will be joined by Paul Brodmerkel, an outstanding wrestler at Lindenhurst who had a stellar career in coaching and officiating; John Klein, a three-sport star at West Islip who played football at Central Connecticut; Jim Mahoney, who coached at Copiague for 28 years and earned Coach of the Year awards 15 times, and writer John Papanek, who began his journalism career at Patchogue-Medford in 1967 and had a successful career at Sports Illustrated and ESPN.
