Details emerge on Chris Benoit movie

Details on the film about former WWE star Chris Benoit, who murdered his wife and 7-year-old son before committing suicide in 2007, are starting to emerge.

WWE wrestlers will be portrayed as characters in the film, according to Sarah Coulter, the writer of the film. "Eddie [Guerrero] is obviously very important to the story," said Coulter. "Triple H, Kurt Angle, they're all there, but it's early and things can still change."

Coulter then touched on the subject about the many conspiracy theories that surround the tragic weekend.

"There are a lot of unknowns about that weekend [when the murders/suicide took place], which is probably why so many people have tried to fill in the blanks with conspiracy theories," she explained. "Chris Benoit was behind the murders, but we still wanted to touch on several of those theories."

Since Benoit’s death there have been many explanations behind the murders: steroid use, concussions and a failing marriage.

The movie is based on Matthew Randazzo’s 2008 book “Ring of Hell: The Story of Chris Benoit & the Fall of the Pro Wrestling Industry."

The film will be titled “Crossface,” a reference to Benoit’s finishing maneuver, “The Crippler Crossface.” According to, it is slated to be released in 2013, although no official release date has been announced.
