Roman Reigns will miss his match at Sunday night's WWE Night of Champions pay-per-view after undergoing emergency surgery for an incarcerated hernia, according to a news release emailed Saturday by WWE.

According to the release Reigns, cousin of WWE legend Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, had been in Nashville, site of the Night of Champions show, to promote the card.

Reigns had been scheduled to compete against one of his former cohorts in The Shield, Seth Rollins.

The release adds that his recovery time will be evaluated by the local surgeon and WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann.
