Fatal Four Way is this Sunday at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. So far, only four matches have been made and we have to wait and see if Smackdown adds any right before the show. This card is very lackluster to say the least and very top heavy with the main events. Once again, poor booking of the mid card will make this pay per view a forgettable experience.
As you saw at the conclusion of Raw, Bret Hart has to give NXT some kind of an answer on whether he will reinstate them back in the WWE. Adding the NXT rookies to the show will bolster the star power of Fatal Four way. I wouldn’t be shocked to see a huge tag team match with NXT and some of the WWE stars. There are plenty of WWE stars that have been left off this card that deserve to wrestle at Fatal Four Way.
Anyway, here are my predictions for the four big matches (total sarcasm there):
WWE Championship Fatal 4-Way Match: John Cena (C) vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge vs. Sheamus
This is the best match on the card without a doubt. It will be interesting to see how much Randy Orton is involved with that shoulder injury. He was barley a part of the tag team match on Raw earlier this week. Whenever we have John Cena in a match, it’s not whether he will win or lose. You have to ask yourself, is he more at risk of losing the title this time? The answer is yes. The WWE doesn’t want Cena losing in a one-on-one match because he has to be pinned to the mat. In this match, he doesn’t have to be pinned to lose the title. Therefore, I could see the belt going to Edge or Orton without Cena being involved in the decision. It’s an opportunity for the WWE to shake things up and not have Cena come out looking like a complete loser.
If Orton’s shoulder is 100 percent, I see him winning the title. However, I see Edge winning setting up a Cena/Edge rematch for Summerslam.
World Heavyweight Championship Fatal 4-Way Match: Jack Swagger (C) vs. Big Show vs. CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio
Oh how this would have been such a better match if Undertaker was there in place of Rey. I cannot stand Rey Mysterio and his style of wrestling, which has become so boring and predictable over the last few years. As for the match, Jack Swagger will walk out as champ. It’s obvious the WWE is setting up Swagger vs. Undertaker at Summerslam in August. Swagger’s title reign has been boring and uneventful thus far, but if the WWE has kept the belt on him this long they will stick it out a few more months. Swagger needs to tango with Undertaker during his title reign. Taker will legitimize this guy as champion because Swagger has not had that big, memorable feud since he’s won the title.
U.S. Championship: The Miz (C) vs. R-Truth
The Miz recaptured the US Title on Monday night and the match was made shortly thereafter. Glad to see the Miz holding the title because he got lost in the mix on Raw when he didn’t have a title. He’s one of those guys who are way more effective on TV when they have a title around their waist. I don’t see him losing the title less than a week after winning it although the WWE has been unpredictable lately. The Miz is still my pick and I want to see him and John Morrison have an all out feud for the US Title heading into Summerslam.
Divas Championship Fatal 4-Way Match: Eve (C) vs. Gail Kim vs. Maryse vs. Alicia Fox
Maryse has been on a roll as of late and I see a title change here. Maryse is your new Divas Champion on Sunday night.
Unless the two title matches are 35 plus minutes the show is very loose and will need to fill that air time. Again, NXT will be a part of the show in some form which will be a positive. If Smackdown adds a match or two, and they should for the Intercontinental Title, I’ll add them to the list.
Long Island didn’t draw the best pay per view this year, but it’s a show none the less. If you’re going, have fun and let us know how it went.
