The WWE Money in the Bank pay per view is this Sunday from Kansas City, Missouri. Check back here following the show for my review. Let’s get right to the predications:
WWE Champion Sheamus vs. John Cena in a Steel Cage Match
Like I said in the Raw after-party, this match has become secondary to what will happen pre or post match with Nexus. Since this match is secondary I see the title staying put on Sheamus. The John Cena/Nexus angle will continue through the summer and culminate at Summerslam. Now that Sheamus sided with Cena last night on Raw, Nexus will also look to take him out as well. I just hope we get some kind of a match with Cena and Sheamus before Nexus interferes.
World Champion Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger
Not really feeling this match but I think Rey Mysterio leaves MITB with the title. I don’t know if the WWE is still high on Undertaker vs. Swagger at Summerslam, but that was the plan before Undertaker went out with an injury and Swagger was still the champ. Plans change on a whim in the WWE and that could be off the table. I think the WWE is going with Taker returning and fighting whom ever put him in that “comatose” state, which is probably Kane. So, it’s safe to assume that a face, like Rey, can hold on to the title a little longer. The problem is, where does Swagger go from here?
Raw Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Edge vs. Chris Jerico vs. Randy Orton vs. Mark Henry vs. Evan Bourne vs. The Miz vs. John Morrison vs. Ted DiBiase
Without question this is the more star studded of the Money in the Bank matches. I’m expecting a lot of high impact moves even though the WWE has decided to cut down on that lately. Also, these are some of the top stars in the entire company, I wouldn’t be shocked if there were very few high impact moves. But I think were bound to get a few especially with guys like Bourne and Morrison who can really steal the show in this type of match. All eyes will be on Bourne and the possibility of a shooting star press off a ladder. My pick for this match is Randy Orton. The Viper has been on a serious roll and having this contract for an entire year will only add to his developing character. Edge will always be a factor in this match and I’m not shocked that many people are picking him to win. MITB fits his personality better than anyone. They don’t call him “the ultimate opportunist” for nothing. My dark horse is not Edge, it’s Jericho because I can see him parading the brief case around for an entire year threatening to use it.
Smackdown Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Kofi Kingston vs. Christian vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Kane vs. Matt Hardy vs. Big Show vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler
Even though this match lacks in star power there is a better chance for someone to get a major push from a win in this match compared to the Raw match. All but two of the participants (Big Show and Kane) are mid card level guys looking to get to that next level. Odds are Show and Kane will not walk out with the win which makes it even more exciting as someone like Kofi Kingston or Christian could eventually win the Worlds Heavyweight Title. I find that angle very interesting and something that is missing from a Raw match were the winner might not be that much of a shock. My pick for this match is Drew McIntyre. The WWE has been very high on this guy for a while and I could see him becoming the Smackdown version of Sheamus.
Unified Tag Team Champions The Hart Dynasty vs. Jimmy & Jey Uso
My pick is the Usos. The WWE is desperate to build up a heel tag team and the best way to do that is have them beat the only face tag team on the roster. When the Usos appeared on Raw for the first time I thought they cut a really good promo in the ring and had some fire. They lost a little of that momentum in recent weeks, but a win here would boost them back up. There is no question The Hart Dynasty can wrestle and they have the pedigree, but they lack in that “it” factor. They need to show some intensity.
Divas Champion Alicia Fox vs. Eve
Honestly, I have no idea. It could go either way, but my pick is Fox.
Women's Champion Layla vs. Kelly Kelly
Honestly, I have no idea. It could go either way. I’m just surprised that the WWE has two diva matches on one card. My pick will be Kelly Kelly.
