Just a couple weeks after recording his first hat trick for Fulham, American Clint Dempsey did it again.
In the Cottagers' 5-2 romp over Newcastle, Dempsey scored three times in the second half, adding to his growing legend at Craven Cottage. Having already surpassed Brian McBride as the top American scorer in the English Premier League, Dempsey became the first Yank to score a hat trick. His previous three-goal day was Jan. 7 during an FA Cup match against Charlton.
Dempsey's first goal, in the 59th minute, was the 50th of his career with the English club. He added his 51st and 52nd in the 65th and 89th minutes as Fulham rolled to its sixth win of the season. The proud Texan now has 15 goals this year -- and nine in the EPL.
Dempsey was recently named U.S. Male Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Soccer Federation.
