Cosmos score three goals in 12 minutes to top Carolina

The Cosmos defeated the Carolina RailHawks, 3-1, at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina, on Saturday night. The Cosmos (4-3-1) stretched their unbeaten streak to six consecutive matches, and Carolina (2-2-5) dropped its third match in a row, giving up three goals in each defeat.

New York rallied, scoring three straight goals in 12 minutes after Daniel Scott had scored in the 16th minute for Carolina.

Leonardo Fernandes evened the score in the 46th minute. The Cosmos took the lead on Lucky Mkosana's score in the 54th minute and Adam Moffat added an insurance goal in the 57th minute.

The Cosmos' next game has major playoff implications when they take on the Ottawa Fury on Wednesday.

Ottawa is on top of the standings in the fall season with 19 points, four ahead of the Cosmos. The Cosmos hold a five-point edge in the combined standings.
