Alex Corpolongo, Ryan Bitzer and Matt Schultz each scored two goals as the No. 18 Stony Brook men’s lacrosse team rallied to beat Fairfield, 9-6, Saturday at Rafferty Stadium.
The Seawolves (3-1) trailed 4-1 in the second quarter and 5-4 in the third but rattled off seven second-half goals.
Brandon Maciejewski made six saves in the second half, allowing two goals and SBU has won 19 in a row when holding its opponent to fewer than 10 goals. Nine different players got at least a point for Stony Brook.
TJ Neubauer had three goals for Fairfield (1-4), including one that gave the Stags a 4-1 lead with 13:05 left in the second quarter. His third goal with 5:31 left in the third quarter gave Fairfield a 5-4 lead.
“Fairfield took us out of our comfort zone and their goalie had a great first half,” Stony Brook coach Jim Nagle said. “We capitalized on our transition opportunities. Brandon is just a relaxed kid. He’s very comfortable coming into the game in the second half. He’s ready at any moment. Overall, we were really sound defensively.”
