Suffolk county vehicle, pickup collide in Yaphank, cops say

A Suffolk County parks truck was involved in a collision with a pickup truck in Yaphank on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The accident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on Yaphank-Middle Island Road near Cathedral Pines County Park, police said.

A police spokeswoman said details of what caused the accident were not available Sunday night, but said the driver of the pickup truck was taken to a nearby hospital with nonlife threatening injuries.

CORRECTION: An earlier version incorrectly gave the incorrect Suffolk County agency that owned the truck involved in the collision.
