FAIRFIELD - A teenage girl is recovering after being struck, dragged and then pinned under a car while riding her bike Tuesday.

Officials say the girl was pinned under the car on Stratfield Road and then dragged a short distance. Emergency crews responded quickly after they received multiple calls for help from residents in the area.

Fire crews had to use special air-powered rescue tools to lift the vehicle to get to the girl, who was still conscious when crews pulled her out.

Fairfield fire officials say a second bicyclist was also struck during the incident. They say both victims were taken by ambulance to Bridgeport Hospital.

Firefighters say the teen is expected to make a full recovery. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
