Beware of nonsecure hot spots

Connecting to the Internet over Wi-Fi hot spots in airports, hotels and cafes is irresistible for travelers. Although banking and other websites are encrypted, sending sensitive information via an unsecured network is risky, says Kelly Davis-Felner of the Wi-Fi Alliance. Often, public hot spots do not have security protections, and "sniffers" may be able to grab and download data. Don't post travel photos and writings on social network sites until you get home. -- Wire reports
