Now even travel companies are jumping on the Black Friday/Cyber Monday holiday shopping bandwagon, dangling discounts that will be available only for the day — or the long weekend — after Thanksgiving. As with retail store sales, you’ll have to judge how competitive the price is. Among the promotions already announced:
*Sonesta Resorts in St. Maarten will offer both room-only and all-inclusive packages at 50 percent off for travel Jan. 3–April 30 (book Nov. 25-29).
*Budget chain Red Roof Inn will offer 15 percent discounts for reservations booked on Monday, Nov. 29, at participating locations, for stays until Dec. 30.
*Shell Vacations will once again offer travelers up to 50 percent off nightly rates at 23 properties in North America, including the Orange Tree Golf Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz., where rates will start at $59; and the Waikiki Marina Resort at the Ilika in Waikiki, Hawaii (from $94 for studio suite with kitchen). Sale is valid for reservations booked Nov. 26-29.
