Cathryn Fadde is a celebrated character in this antique-cluttered town on a dramatic stretch of the Hudson River. Her idyllic restaurant is quaint and comfortable, with a large lounge and a flower-framed brick courtyard for outside dining.
The food could be called winsome Tuscan, with items like calamari with arugula and smoked cherry tomatoes, seared scallops with pancetta and sautéed fava beans; grilled pheasant with raspberry, pearl onions, and pancetta; and free-range chicken with green olives, lemon and shallots. The enormous Italian wine list carries a number of good selections at reasonable prices. Service is friendly and professional. And here is a novel come-on: The first time you dine there in any month, your dollars spent translate toward miles on American Airlines. Bring friends. -Bryan Miller
