Here's the tagline, and we agree: Moms rock! Celebrate — for free — all-things mom at the 9th annual Mamapalooza at Riverside Park South (enter at West 68 Street at the Hudson River). From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, shove your rock horns into the air as you listen to mom- and kid-fronted bands, including Joy Rose and Housewives on Prozac. Also part of the outdoor entertainment: poetry readings and comedy from “Funniest Mom In America” finalists. For more: mamapalooza.com.
Taste the diversity of Hell's Kitchen at the 39th annual Ninth Avenue International Food Festival, noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Wander 15 blocks, noshing on cuisine from Spain, Poland, Thailand and beyond, crafted by the many restaurants in the area. Stop by the stage at 55th Street for music and dance performances, and let the kids pull you toward the children's pavilion between 53rd and 54th streets. Merchants will be selling jewelry, crafts and etc. Admission is free; the food is not. Info: ninthavenuefoodfestival.com.
It's vaguely summerlike outside, and that means “Today” is ready to start its summer concert series. The free music starts Friday with Usher. The only price to pay: Getting to Rockefeller Plaza for the 7 to 9 a.m. show. For the full lineup: today.msnbc.com.
Saturday, the Brooklyn Flea Record Fair culls independent labels (Secretly Canadian, No Quarter, Jagjaguwar) and local LP vendors (Record Grouch and Eat Records in Greenpoint, Cake Shop in the Lower East Side) for more than 30 tables filled with crates to flip through. The serious record collectors will be there when it opens at 11 a.m., so be forewarned, casual vinyl enthusiast. And that it's at Smorgasburg (at the East River Waterfront, between north Sixth and Seventh streets) means you'll have 75-some food vendors to fuel the record fever. Admission is free; the LP tab, well, that's up to you. Info: brooklynflea.com.
