You don't need a bundle of cash to be well fed and entertained in the city; you just need to know where to look. Here are some of this week's best freebies:
I'm giving you plenty of advance notice on this one because of its sheer magnitude. Stand back, because there's gonna be a free Lady Gaga concert in Central Park next month. All I know so far is that it will run from 7 to 9 a.m. on Friday, May 27, on the SummerStage as part of a "Good Morning America" taping. More details are here.
Otto's Shrunken Head Tiki Bar & Lounge has plenty of free entertainment all night long Friday. To wit: From 7-8:45 p.m., Transform the Bull* Comedy will feature "improvised storytelling about rising above the [bull]". And after you're all laughed out loud, stick around for DJs Kittybeat, Capt Heartlock and Dr. Jones as they host a night of '60s garage, psych, mod and surf music, starting at 10 p.m. You'll find all this and more at 538 E. 14 St.
Mark you calendars: Haagen-Dazs Free Cone Day is May 12. Just show up at your neighborhood shop and get in line from 4-8 p.m.
Thirsty much? How does brunch with a free bottomless glass sound? There's one a week all over the city. Check the Ultimate Up-to-Date Guide to NYC’s All-You-Can-Drink, Unlimited, Boozy, Endless Brunches on winedanddined.com for deets.
That's it for now. Check back next week for more freebies, and in the meantime, livingfreenyc has more cash-saving ideas to get you through the week.
