It's official: High-speed trains are coming to a rail near you.
President Barack Obama has approved grants of $8 billion for rail projects in 13 corridors in 31 states. California, Florida and Illinois are among the big winners, but New York will be among those receiving smaller awards to improve existing rail lines.
Though the trains are being called "high-speed," they won't be anything like the super fast rails in Europe or Asia, according to an Associated Press report.
Some are calling the project "Stimulus Rail," as the White House is touting the initiative as a jobs creator.
