The Cedar Beach Bar & Grille is right on the beach serving jumbo lump crabcake with garam masala, lobster roll and filet mignon. Live music Tuesday and Sunday nights.

Resident parking is $5 daily, one-year seasonal $15 ($10 if purchased before Memorial Day weekend), $5 for seniors, veterans and handicapped when purchased in advance. Nonresident parking at Sound and bay beaches $20 daily; one-year seasonal permit $250; weekly rate $100. Ocean beaches are on Fire Island side of Great South Bay and accessible by ferry or boat (631-451-6100, brookhavenny.gov).

Description:

Fishing pier, nature center, playground, food stand; swim lessons (fee). Surfers can put their boards in the water year-round anywhere to the east and west of lifeguarded areas.

Lifeguards: 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Memorial Day weekend (May 27-29) and weekends June 3-Sept. 4. Open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays from June 26-Sept. 4
