Where to see celebrities in the Hamptons

So many celebrities vacation or own homes on the East End that it isn’t unusual to see Naomi Watts buying cereal at the Amagansett IGA or Alec Baldwin browsing the shelves of BookHampton in East Hampton. But if you want to see stars in more glamorous environments, these places have attracted the rich and famous. They’re open to us hoi polloi, too.

Gawk at the $600 Golden Goose sneakers at this streetwear boutique off Main Street in East Hampton, but try to play it cool if Jennifer Lopez and A-Rod walk in to browse designer T-shirts. Also known to have shopped here: Chris Rock, Chanel Iman and Christie Brinkley.

A favorite of celebrity dads, including Jimmy Fallon and Will Arnett, who come in with kids in tow and leave with Crocs and flip-flops. Chris Hemsworth dazzled employees and customers alike when he stopped in with his family just before “Thor: Ragnarok” debuted last fall.

This Beverly Hills-based designer vintage store counts Rihanna and Victoria Beckham as customers, so it’s no surprise that when it opened a Hamptons outpost, famous customers followed. Robert Downey Jr., Rachel Zoe and photographer Cindy Sherman have shopped for gently used Chanel and Hermès accessories. Experienced salespeople will help you find that perfect vintage Missoni beach cover-up, no rummaging required.

This adorable drive-in has served grass-fed burgers, lobster rolls and Tater Tots to Kelly Ripa and Jane Krakowski. Martha Stewart is a fan, as is Ina Garten. Avoid Thursday nights, when the crowds for Jazz Night make getting a seat difficult. Free ice cream Wednesdays, however, might get you a celebrity sighting along with your chocolate cone.

A longtime Montauk favorite, Naturally Good Foods, recently relocated to larger Main Street digs, the better to accommodate a growing list of health-conscious celebrities. Sam Talbot of “Top Chef” fame is a fan. So are fashion types like Bottega Veneta designer Tomas Maier. But Naturally Good really jumped to the top of the A-list when Lady Gaga walked in late last year.

This is the place to brunch on pan-crisped tofu and greens, just like famous vegetarian and Babette’s regular Paul McCartney. Whole-grain, gluten-free pancakes are served all day (workout wear mogul Kate Hudson must like those). Baseball legend Derek Jeter has checked out the whole-foods place, and Bill Clinton likes the organic eggs.

Crow's Nest, 4 Old W. Lake Dr., Montauk; 631-668-2077, crowsnestmtk.com
Glamorous in a youthful, boho, Montauk style, this waterfront restaurant (part of the trendy Crow’s Nest Hotel) welcomes the likes of Lorne Michaels and Stephanie March with fresh, local dishes such as Montauk fluke, sea bass with black quinoa and spaghetti with heirloom tomatoes. Leonardo DiCaprio has enjoyed the food, as well as the adjacent boutique, where he bought his date a cashmere sweater to ward off the chill from the bay. The wait can be long, especially if you are not an A-lister. Relax while you sip a glass of rosé and enjoy the sunset by the outdoor fire pit.

This low-key pub serves burgers, salads, roast chicken and nightly blackboard specials to incognito celebs like Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost, Billy Baldwin and Chynna Phillips, Ethan Hawke, and Luke Wilson. They’re also happy to serve the less low-key, including former President Bill Clinton and his entourage of 13.

Among those who have recently dined on kale salad, brick-oven pizza and short-rib ravioli are Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, George Stephanopoulos, Emma Roberts, Sen. Charles Schumer, Howard Stern, Emily Mortimer, Gwyneth Paltrow, Blythe Danner, Steven Spielberg, Nathan Lane and Tom Hanks.

Tacos and tequila for everyone! Celebrities such as Uma Thurman, Bethenny Frankel, Regis Philbin and Brooke Shields have been spotted enjoying the house specialties, including nachos, quesadillas and skirt steak fajitas at this Tex-Mex hotspot. Yes, there are skinny margaritas (made with tequila, coconut water and agave syrup) for maintaining those celebrity beach bods.
