Calling all literary lovers
Author's Night is the Hamptons' premier literary event of the summer. Meet best-selling authors and celebrity scribes including Ed Burns, Katie Lee, Dick Cavett, Jonathan Adler, Arlene Alda, Nelson DeMille, Stewart Lane and Dr. Ruth. The signing cocktail party will take place Saturday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. under the tents at 4 Maidstone Lane in East Hampton. At 8 p.m., big book fans can join their favorite author at an exclusive dinner party at a private Hamptons home. All proceeds benefit the East Hamptons Library.
Get wild with Beth Stern
The Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center hosts its 9th annual Get Wild summer benefit at Marders in Bridgehampton on Saturday night. Party for animals in need with plenty of famous faces. Honorary co-chairs include Hilaria and Alec Baldwin, Cornelia Guest, Carey Lowell, Jill Rappaport and Beth Stern, who, with hubby Howard, works hands-on (gloves and all) with the organization year-round to rescue injured animals on the East End.
Cool concert for a cause
Hip hop heavyweights and music moguls come together for VH1 Save the Music headlined by R&B superstar Jason Derulo and DJs Hannah Bronfman and Brendan Fallis on Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m. at a private residence in Sagaponack. With event co-chairs Charlie and Lauran Walk and Julie and William Macklowe, and Charlotte Ronson on the committee, expect big names in music, as well as Nina Garcia, Bobby Flay and Ramona Singer to come out to support this power party to benefit the Foundation's work of restoring music education in public schools.
Julie Macklowe, VH1 Save The Music Foundation board member and this year's "Hamptons Live" event host, said: "This year's Hamptons Live gala is going to be incredible, with a lush Mediterranean poolside ambiance designed by Amy Gavin from Viacom Special Events and outfitted by a generous donation from Grandin Road. Flowers and greens were provided by Jack & Rose Florist, a local Long Island-based floral design studio. The menu was specially curated by Peter Callahan with oyster shuckers by Oysters XO and specialty whiskey bar from Diageo. We will also be creating special video of the evening that Jason Derulo will upload to his Apple Connect page post-event, for anyone not in attendance who wants to experience the evening with us. We've already raised twice as much money this year (more than $700,000) versus last year to benefit music education and are on the verge of selling out -- a few tickets still left at vh1savethemusic.org."
