The first stop in the Hamptons for the “Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea,” author Chelsea Handler? Hamptons Magazine’s annual Memoral Day kick-off summer party.
Hosted by founder and Niche Media Chairman Jason Binn, Hamptons Publisher Debra Halpert and Editor-in-Chief Samantha Yanks, it was presented by Bing at the new Southampton Social Club.
Handler was ready to get her cover story issue party started, she told reporters, adding it was her first weekend in the East End. “I like it. It’s perfect for me,” she said.
Handler is hot. She’s put a new female face on late-night talk with her ratings grabber, “Chelsea Lately” on E! TV, also home to her scripted comedy series “After Lately,” appeared in films opposite Russell Brand in “Hop” and Reese Withspoon in “This Means War” (slated for winter), and is coming off successful book and stand up tours. Her blunt, scathing tongue seemingly spares no one. But, has anyone ever complained? “Not that I know about,” she told Newsday, “but I think that if they did they would never really talk to me about it.”
