According to an article by Barbara De Lollis of USA Today, the hotel-deal shopping site reports New York City leads the list of destinations travelers are searching for the month of December.

With all the festivities found in NYC come the holidays – including the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree – there are obvious reasons to visit, but upon looking at the Top Five according to Kayak, the general reasons for selecting destinations seem to deviate from the desire to simply find the holiday spirit. Kayak reports the first five to be:

•  New York

•  Las Vegas

•  Orlando

•  Cancun

•  Miami

All the other cities can be considered “hot” destinations as they offer warm weather for the last month of the calendar, indicating the likelihood that while the seasonal décor of the Big Apple is a draw, the shine of the sun is, for many, just as fun.
