Following a rash of BB gun shootings, Yonkers police have arrested a 15-year-old for allegedly shooting a middle-aged woman with a pellet gun.

The teen, who was not identified, is accused of shooting a 57-year-old woman as she was getting into her vehicle Friday night near Van Cortlandt Park, according to Yonkers police Lt. Patrick McCormack. Police seized a pellet gun, six carbon dioxide cartridges and pellets.

He will be arraigned in Yonkers Family Court on Monday afternoon. The charges will be determined by a Family Court judge, but if charged as an adult he would face second-degree assault, second-degree menacing and other felony charges.

Police have received at least six complaints from residents in the past week about BB gun shootings in various locations across the city. Last week, several people were treated for injures from BB gun pellets in the Riverdale neighborhood.

"We don't know if he is responsible for the other shootings, but we are certainly looking into that," McCormack said. "We anticipate additional arrests, but the investigation is still very much ongoing."
