Zachary Carter, the former U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York, will be New York's new Corporation Counselor come Jan. 1. As an attorney, Carter led an office that shut down dangerous gang and organized crime and led the prosecution of the officers involved in the Abner Louima case.

Some issues that will be on Carter's plate in his new role are affordable housing, paid sick leaves and protecting community health care. De Blasio and his team feel Carter will shine new light to an unpopular role.
