Michael D’Ambrosio hit a walk-off solo home run in the seventh inning to lead No. 2 Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK to a 7-6 baseball win over No. 7 Oceanside in Game 1 of the Nassau Class AAA quarterfinals on Monday. D’Ambrosio also struck out five and allowed one earned run in a complete game. Peter Bounougias added a two-run home run in the first inning. Alex Reifer went 1-for-3 with a run and a RBI. Patrick Pallantino hit a three-run home run in the third inning for Oceanside. POB JFK (15-5) will visit Oceanside (10-11) at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday for Game 2.

Division 6, Garden City 0: Matt Marino struck out seven in a three-hitter to lead No. 6 Division over No. 3 Garden City in Game 1 of the Nassau Class AA quarterfinals. Caiden Siegel went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored and Kaolis Delacruz went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Division (16-5) will host Garden City (13-8) at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday for Game 2.

Farmingdale 4, East Meadow 2: Jordan Welch struck out four and allowed six hits and one earned run in six innings to lead No. 3 Farmingdale over No. 6 East Meadow in Game 1 of the Nassau Class AAA quarterfinals. He also went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Joe Tagliavia went 2-for-2 with a double, two walks and an RBI. Farmingdale (14-6-1) will visit East Meadow (10-10-1) at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday for Game 2.

St. John the Baptist 4, St. Mary’s 2: Nick D’Avanzo struck out 12 and allowed zero earned runs in 6 1/3 innings to lead No. 6 St. John the Baptist over No. 7 St. Mary’s in the play-in game of the NSCHSAA playoffs. Jacob Schmutz went 1-for-3 with a double, Kyle Cahill when 1-for-2 with a triple and Dom Coniglio had the winning RBI sac fly. St. John the Baptist (10-9) faces No. 3 St. Anthony’s at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Farmingdale State College in the first round of the double-elimination bracket. St. Mary’s finished 3-15 against CHSAA competition.

SOFTBALL

Floral Park 7, Lynbrook 6: Riley Turner drove in Kiama Condran on a walk-off sac fly in the seventh inning to lead Floral Park over Lynbrook in the Nassau Class A play-in game. Lila Pellettieri went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run scored and two RBIs. Chloe Zielinski went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and one RBI. Floral Park (6-11) earned the No. 8 seed and will face No. 1 Wantagh in the quarterfinals Thursday. Lynbrook finished 16-3.
