Members of the elite Suffolk County police Emergency Services Unit were called Monday morning for a rescue: plucking seven misplaced baby ducklings from a storm drain in North Bellport.

The 911 call reporting the situation was made by what police said was “an anonymous complainant” at 11:47 a.m.

It was unclear how many officers were involved in the actual corralling and rescue of the ducklings at the drain on Wisteria Circle but it was accomplished in a matter of minutes, police said.

The ducklings were then reunited with their mother at a nearby pond.
