With a serving team made up of attractive young women attired in tank tops and short shorts, the new Bottomz Up in Carle Place isn't subtle about its main draw.
Truth be told, the waitresses observed on a recent visit looked a lot more sporty than seductive. This worked in well with the sports bar vibe of the place, whose walls are lined with too many TV screens to count.
Executive chef Adam Goldgell was on his game with the soup du jour, an ingeniously spiced North African sweet potato soup with peanuts ($7). He scored again with first -rate pulled chicken sliders ($10) as well as with very good “Baltimore-style” lump and jumbo lump blue crabcakes ($13).
But Macademia-crusted chicken ($18) was cooked to utter woodenness. And a sliced skirt steak sandwich ($14), requested rare, was very well done — although flavorful and juicy. Too bad the restaurant's light, boozy tiramisu ($9), studded with chunks of dark chocolate, was crowned with aerosol whipped cream.
Still, for a place called Bottomz Up, pretty nice food.
