The Islanders are far from a perfect fit for Kansas City, if only because the timing simply isn’t right for either side.
The city wants a hockey team now because they have a brand-new arena just waiting to be used. The last thing AEG, which owns the arena, would want to do is wait around until the Islanders’ lease with Nassau County finally expires in 2015.
