Considering CMJ's Long Island roots, its annual Music Marathon always has a strong Island influence both with the performers and with the experts who fill the panel discussions about the future of the music industry.
Here's some of the Long Island representatives at this year's CMJ:
PT WALKLEY
The Cold Spring Harbor native will be on the "Specific Business Concepts for the Modern Day Music Artist" panel at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. It's hoped he'll get a chance to talk about what will follow his "Mr. Macy Wakes Alone" project and what is up with the Blue Jackets.
AEROPLANE PAGEANT
The Seaford band will unveil the ambitious indie pop of "Even the Kids Don't Believe Me" to the CMJ crowd at Southpaw at 10 p.m. Wednesday.
MIKE WATTS
The Freeport producer from VuDu Studios, where Blameshift will soon return to finish their upcoming album, will be on the "Life as a Modern Day Professional Producer" panel at 12:30 p.m. Thursday,
BUSTA RHYMES
The Uniondale native, who has been busy promoting his new "Back on My -- " album, is set for a showcase at 11 p.m. Thursday at B.B. King Blues Club and Grill.
DJ NICKODEMUS
The Bay Shore native has been around the world supporting the "Turntables on the Hudson" creator's new "Sun People" album, with its international twist on dance music. Nickodemus will showcase it at midnight Thursday at S.O.B.'s.
NIGHTMARE OF YOU
Brandon Reilly is a veteran of numerous CMJ marathons, both with Nightmare of You and Long Island heroes the Movielife, but Nightmare's "Infomaniac" may be his strongest material yet. Reilly, guitarist Joseph McCaffrey and newcomers Brandon Meyer on bass and Michael Fleischmann on drums will showcase at Bowery Poetry Club at 9 p.m. Saturday.
