Storylines: Hixon sets total yards record

Hixon first Giant to hit 300

Drew Brees wasn't the only one signing the stat sheet on Sunday. Domenik Hixon broke the team's 61-year-old franchise record for most yards in a single game when he accounted for 303 - 230 on kickoff returns, 51 on punt returns and 22 on pass receptions. It was his second time in such rarefied air; last year against the Cardinals Hixon had 269 yards. In fact, he's one of only six active players with two or more games of at least 269 total yards: San Diego's Darren Sproles has three, Cleveland's Josh Cribbs, Chicago's Devin Hester, Minnesota's Adrian Peterson and Carolina's Steve Smith have two each. Not bad company.

Nicks is streaking

It was lost in the waning moments of a blowout, but Hakeem Nicks' 37-yard touchdown reception from David Carr on Sunday made it three straight games that he has found the end zone. Nicks is the first Giants rookie since Bob McChesney in 1950 to have three straight games with a touchdown reception. Nicks has caught 12 passes this season, averaging a team-high 19.6 yards per catch and scoring on 25 percent of his catches. On Sunday he led the team with 114 receiving yards on five catches.

Waiting by the mailbox

It probably wouldn't have made a difference, but Shaun O'Hara was still steaming about the phantom holding call against him Sunday that negated a 10-yard touchdown pass that would have made it 41-24 with about 12 minutes left in the game. "It's a shame," he said. "We're out there fighting hard trying to win a football game and you want to play against the other team and not anyone else." O'Hara said the Giants will probably receive a letter from the league admitting that it was a bad call by umpire Chad Brown, who O'Hara said told him during the game that he didn't see the play but only its aftermath. "All we get is a letter, a piece of paper that says 'bad call,' " O'Hara said.
