The Great Depression finally is over in the Bronx.

The memories of those eight, long, barren, championship-deprived seasons have been replaced by the glory of the 2009 Yankees, kings of the American League East, conquerors of the Twins and Angels, and as of late Wednesday night, world champions of baseball after their six-game subduing of the Phillies.
