Nassau County police are investigating the death of a 58-year-old male, who was pulled out of the water near Jones Beach on Sunday morning, police announced.

The Nassau County Police Marine Bureau responded to a 911 call about a body floating in water at the west end area of Jones Beach at around 6:17 a.m. on Sunday.

The body of a man, who was not immediately identified, was pulled out of the water and was unresponsive. 

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by a police medic, authorities said. Police also recovered a 25-foot boat belonging to the victim about three quarters of a mile east of his body.

The investigation is ongoing.
