A truck fire partially closed a portion of the Long Island Expressway on Friday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

Around 1:30 p.m., Suffolk police responded to reports of a truck that caught fire on the eastbound side of the expressway near Exit 53 in Brentwood, a department spokesperson told Newsday.

The fire occurred within the jurisdiction of the Dix Hills Fire District, according to Suffolk County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services officials. Volunteers with the Dix Hills and Brentwood fire departments were at the scene.

No injuries were reported at the scene, which has since been cleared, the Suffolk police spokesperson said.

Neither Suffolk police or FRES could provide additional information, such as how many lanes of traffic were closed due to the blaze, how long it took to extinguish and when the expressway was fully reopened.
