After a historic season for the Farmingdale State University men’s lacrosse team, the Rams fell 16-8 to host St. Mary’s (Maryland) in the first round of the NCAA III championship on Wednesday.

The Rams made their first-ever tournament appearance after winning the Skyline Conference championship last week for the first time in program history, defeating host and No. 1 seed Maritime College.

The Seahawks took an early 6-0 lead in the first period, but Thomas Stock put the Rams on the board with 24 seconds left in the period. Tyler Kollar scored two in the second, while the Seahawks scored four.

At the half, the Rams trailed 10-3. Rob Varello added one goal in the third, and they went on to have a four-goal fourth quarter.

Stock finished with two goals and one assist, Kollar had three goals and one assist and Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year Adam Giovinco had two goals.

The Rams finish the season with a 16-4 record, marking the team's most wins in the NCAA era. The Seahawks (14-6) advance to the second round, where they will face No. 2 RPI on Saturday.
