It’s a good time to be a St. John the Baptist lacrosse player as both the boys and girls teams won NSCHSAA Class A titles this week.

Ryan Banaciski, who leads the CHSAA in points (88), had five goals and an assist to lead the boys to a 12-7 win over St. Dominic on Thursday. The Cougars avenged their loss to the Bayhawks from last season’s championship, a year to the day of this season's title win.

Sophia Virgilio delivered a seven-point performance (five goals and two assists) for the girls in a 15-1 win over Our Lady of Mercy. She earned her 101st point in the victory and has 77 goals this season.

Boys

Quinn Napolitano, Northport: Napolitano made 20 saves and allowed just three goals in Northport's 14-3 win over Ward Melville in the Suffolk Class A semifinals.

Matt McIntee, East Islip: His two goals and six assists helped East Islip pull away in the second half against West Islip in its 17-7 Suffolk Class AA semifinal victory.

Caiden Lung, Lynbrook: Lung made 15 saves as Lynbrook shut out Wheatley/Carle Place, 5-0, in the first round of the Nassau C playoffs. He made another 15 saves in an 11-10 overtime loss to Seaford.

Kian McCoy, Island Trees: McCoy had eight goals and one assist in a 15-10 win over North Shore in the Nassau Class C quarterfinals.

David Disque, Syosset: Disque had six goals and four assists in Syosset’s 19-4 win over Herricks in the Nassau Class A quarterfinals.

Michael Melkonian, South Side: Melkonian won all 17 of his faceoffs in South Side's 17-3 win over Long Beach.

Girls

Grace Skulavik, Mepham: Skulavik’s had five goals and three assists to lead the Pirates to a 13-3 win over New Hyde Park in the Nassau Class B quarterfinals.

Tess Calabria, St. Anthony’s: Calabria's 11-point game (five goals and six assists) kept St. Anthony’s undefeated in its 17-7 win over Sacred Heart in the NSCHSAA.

Adriana Mavlios, North Shore: Mavlios had six goals and an assist to lead North Shore to a 9-8 overtime win over Seaford in the Nassau Class D quarterfinals. She also had four goals and two assists in a non-league win over Farmingdale.

Caitlin Kenney, Mineola: Her five goals and four draw controls led Mineola past Division, 9-6.

Kennedy Radziul, Northport: Radziul scored five goals to lead Northport past Huntington, 14-6, in the Suffolk Class A quarterfinals. She had a goal, an assist and six draw controls in the Tigers’ 8-7 win over Commack in the semifinals.
