Top court: Nassau Co. must pay MTA $26M after long-running lawsuit

ALBANY -- New York's top court dismissed a Nassau County lawsuit Thursday against the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, leaving the county on the hook for almost $26 million and sparking a war of words between two county executive candidates.

Fallout widens from appellate ruling on Nassau taxes

As passed along by Newsday's Celeste Hadrick, Frank Moroney, senior adviser to Nassau's GOP legislative majority, said Wednesday night that counsel is reviewing the Appellate Division decision that knocks down the county's pass-along of school-tax refund obligations.
